About The Karting on Ice Experience

What are the karts like?

With powerful 460cc engines and carbide studded ice tires these karts are unlike anything you have driven before.

Gokarting newbies and racing pros alike are sure to enjoy the challenges of ice karting with plenty of power for long, lurid powerslides that will make you look like a drift king.

Where are you located?

The 2025 season is being held on approx. 30mins north of the Twin Cities on South Center Lake.  The track is adjacent to Nordic Harbor in Center City.

How much does it cost?

Prices start at $39.97 + MN sales tax per driver. Helmet rental is included at no extra charge. Check the book now link for possible deals.

We ask that customers plan for their visit to last approx. one hour to cover gear-up, safety briefing. driving time and warmup.

We also offer hourly private track rental. This grants exclusive access to the karts and track for a customized, private experience.

Although there is no minimum required number of drivers for private rental, it’s typically best for groups between 8-15 for each hour.

When does the season start and end?

The 2025 season has already started! We will run for as long as we can. Typically until the end of the first week in March. Ultimately, Mother Nature decides, so do not delay and reserve your seat right away.

When are you open?

Typical we are open to the public from Friday to Sunday (Additional days and times can be made available for private and corporate groups)

Hours of operation:

Friday first session at 6PM until last session at 830PM
Saturday and Sunday first session at 2PM and last at 830PM

Reservations are strongly recommended as walkup availability can be variable.

What are the requirements to drive? How old do drivers need to be?

All drivers must be a minimum of 4′ 10″ to ensure they can operate the controls safely.

Per insurance, all drivers must be 14 years or older.

A safety briefing is given before your session where you can also ask any questions you may have.

Maximum weight guideline is around 280lbs, however with how body proportions vary, it’s best to have larger drivers sit in a kart to assess safety and comfort.

This is a high risk activity. Impaired driving will not be tolerated.

Do you have options for larger groups?

Of course! We are proud to have welcomed many private and corporate groups from all over the midwest.

We offer larger groups an opportunity to book the track and facility exclusively, contact us with your needs and we will create a custom event for you.

What do I need to bring and wear?

Dress warm and dress dry as if you are going to any other outdoor winter activity such as snow tubing, skiing or snowmobiling as you’ll be traveling through the air at 40MPH. That means:

Windproof gloves
Snow pants
Winter boots and a warm jacket are highly recommended.
Full face DOT (Or higher) spec helmets are required.

Don’t have a helmet? No problem! We have sanitized helmets available at no extra charge.

You are welcome to bring your own personal helmet it as long as it meets the requirements AND is in good condition. We reserve the right to reject personal helmets if they are damaged.

Our Story..

Epic Kart Racing is a family owned business based in Minnesota.

Using our experience in the “regular” gokarting industry, our goal is to craft unique karting experiences that are super fun for everyone, but still challenging for seasoned racers.

In December 2019 we floated the idea of Karting on Ice to the people of Minnesota via social media.
The reaction was incredible with over 2million views on our intro video of which over 2000 people signed up for the early access email list.

We were on our way…. or so we thought.

It turned out that even with our experience and connections in karting, securing a suitable location along with required permits and insurance was going to be an uphill battle with a few false starts.

Fast forward to early February 2021 (It’s OK to skip 2020, right?) with everything locked-in, we moved in to Washington County Fairgrounds. We managed to squeeze two weekends of running before the season ended.

Jan to March 2022 saw our first full season of operation which combined with a flurry of media attention lead to us making a series on on-the-fly changes to keep up with demand.

2023 saw the project take some big leaps with an extended 1600ft track spanning a variety of bends, electronic timing, kart performance upgrades and more.

2024 brings us to a new location at Running Aces Casino, Hotel and Racetrack.
